Tack List The items listed below are required for all Horse
Training and Management students. Each student must bring these items with
them or purchase them upon their arrival in Lamar for the start of the

- 1 - Good quality western saddle, with front cinch-30 or 34 inches long,
a back cinch is not necessary
- 2 - Saddle pads or blankets- NO KOOL BACK PADS
- 1 - Headstall with O-ring snaffle bit, minimum 5 inches wide
- 1 - Pair heavy leather split training reins, 1/2 to 1 inch wide, 7
to 8 ft. long
- 2 - 18 qt. flat backed buckets. Buckets need snap or hook of some kind
to hang - Qty 2
- Grooming items (underlined are required) You are also encouraged to bring along any grooming tools that you personally favor (We will be banding,
braiding, clipping, tails, etc.) Something to carry tools in is also recommended.
- hard and soft brush
- mane comb
- rubber curry
- 1 - Flat nylon halter or rope tie halter, with 8 to 10 ft. long lead
rope
- 1 - Chain lead chain can be attached or unattached)
- 2 - 1/2 inch cotton driving lines, 20 ft long with snaps
- 1 - Animal thermometer
- 1 - Running martingale (optional)
- 1 - Set of horse clippers
- 1 - Hoof pick
- 1 - Leather punch (optional)
- Clothing:
- English/western riders - Riding helmets are encouraged, but not mandatory on flat work. English riders - Riding helmets w/harness are mandatory
for over fences
- Riding boots/shoes must have 1/2 inch heel
- Gloves are recommended for barn work, lunging and ground driving

The Director of Admissions sends information regarding dates for
registration, student orientation, & residence hall.
